Jacob’s Place Early Educational Center’s vision is to ensure every student’s academic success and well-being.  We want to empower students to acquire, demonstrate, articulate, and value knowledge and skills that will support them as life-long learners.  Our goal is to ensure that the children at our school are provided with high-quality learning experiences and to challenge them to reach their maximum potential.  We want to provide them with a solid foundation of skills, knowledge, and values to enable each student to become well-educated, productive adults able to cope with an ever-changing world.

Children ages 2-5 are engaged in a variety of play-based and developmentally appropriate learning experiences ensuring that instruction is based on children’s individual strengths, interest and needs. The center utilizes DOE thematic units along with the creative curriculum to ensure that both leadership and teaching teams establish, model, facilitate and reinforce a play-based approach to learning and inquiry. Play serves many purposes and provides an excellent vehicle for learning. By handling many different materials, children learn to observe, compare, sort, and sequence. Their knowledge grows as they experiment, make discoveries, and modify their current thinking to incorporate new insights.  Teaching teams create a high-quality learning environment and build a thorough understanding of best practices.  We are committed to ensuring that children engage in interdisciplinary, thematic learning experiences such as interdisciplinary units, lesson plans and culminating experiences.  All these are aligned with NYS Common Core, ECERS, CLASS and Building Blocks for Math.   Our goals are to promote the citywide focus on school readiness, build on the Common Core, authentic assessment and program quality expectations while promoting continuity for students through alignment with K-12 instructional expectations.
